I think the thing that impresses me the most though is your understanding of your kids, and what they need. I remember Pa telling me years ago that secondary teachers teach CONTENT, but elementary teachers teach KIDS. And I vowed then and there to be the secondary teacher that teaches kids. I knew I wanted to be the kind of teacher who not only stressed the content, but understood that the relationship I form with my students is as important as the math that I teach. And on the rare weekend you had time to come home to visit you would tell the stories of your kids, and I knew in my heart that you get it. You’re the secondary teacher that teaches kids. And what an amazing teacher you will be for that knowledge.
Congratulations on five years of hard work and effort at MSU and in your student teaching year. The day has finally come for you to graduate FOR REALS this time. I am so excited for you to start this new phase of your life with the handsome guy (HOBL) in the picture above. I know the job search is already causing you stress, but I know that you will find a job, and most importantly that you will be an excellent teacher in that job.
And lastly, please know how much I love you. I admire so many of your qualities, and wonder how you ended up so well-balanced with a mom like me. ;) The teaching profession has gained a keeper, and I could not be prouder.
Love, Mommy Dearest
