It's all the rage! I love some of the color combos I have found on Pinterest, and in the scrapbooking world using these combos is popular.

I mixed a lot of lines from GCD on this layout. I even found a blue with pink pattern that looks exactly like the blue can!

What inspires you?
of summer, that is. Jenna swims at a neighborhood pool all summer long. She's my little "Dolphin." And part of our summer routine is heading off to swim. But yesterday was the last day. It's sad. For her? Not so much. For me? Devastating. I love our summer routine. I will miss it. Dearly.

and I SCRAPPED! It turned out after I returned from Chicago, Bill had a weekend trip shooting. And my sister borrowed Jenna to hang with Wyatt who was here for the weekend.
How fun to have an extended chunk of time to get some scrapping done! I have to be honest, the two things I feel I didn't do enough of this summer are taking pictures and creating. So this was PERFECT! Except for one thing. No mojo. I tried some sketches, but I only liked sketches I had already used. Now THAT is a lack of creativity, my friends.
So while I got 5 layouts done that day, I only like 1. It's just the way it goes, I guess. Hopefully I got the bad ones out of my system and some really good pages are ahead.

Fall is making her approach. And summer is making her exit. DANGIT. I can't deny it. The last week of summer. Here's the thing though. I like what I do. I look forward to seeing my students. I like new beginnings, and the school year is just that. I like the people I work with. I like the routine of school.
The mornings? Well I hate those. That's all.
My friend G and I traveled to Chicago last week for three days and went school shopping with Emily. We had a blast! It was my only trip away from Jenna, and while that was tough and I missed her, hanging with adults was fun. Em shopped with us every day, and Kevin joined us in the evenings after work, and one night Lauren even joined us. Here's my favorite pic of the three ladies. Had to put it on a layout.
And here's hoping this becomes an annual trip. It makes the idea of going back to school much easier to take.

I promised myself I would have a kit killed before the next one came in the mail. But with vacations and summer as busy as it is, dangit I'm behind. This is my 5th from the August kit. And I'm down to scraps. But I still feel like I need to do one more, thus putting me further behind.
I know, I know. I've got to get out more. Without further adieu . . .
I love this line Country Drive from Echo Park, and these 3-D glasses are hilarious on my girl. She is spunky, for reals.
My friend, Leslie, is starting up a kit club called C'est Magnifique. The kits look AMAZING, and it's a brand new community. If you're looking for a place to hang out, I highly suggest it! Here's a share for the day as well. I failed at the layout share a day. I have done the scrapping, but I'm too lazy to do the scanning. That's just me at this point. Savoring the last days of summer . . .

and it was a big one! We went for 6 days and nights, and had a blast. We went to The Straights, and checked out the UP. And can I just explain how hard it was to explain to Jenna the concept of a Yooper?
Here was the view from the campground.
We went to Whitefish Point to see the shipwreck museum and pick up rocks.
We visited Tahquamenon Falls. I can't believe in all of my years of going throught the UP to Wisconsin we never visited.We started by rowing over to the island so we could walk through the falls.
And we learned that you'd better watch where you step!
Then Emily and Kevin came up north to camp with us for a few days. We headed to Mackinaw City for the day and there was a reenactment camp set up. We shopped for a while . . . turns out we turned down these hats.
We went to the Island for a day and biked the 8.4 miles.
The sites were amazing.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the main drag with all of the people. It will be a few years before I want to go back.
Around camp we spent a lot of time reading.
We ate whitefish picked up from a local market right by the campground more nights than the surgeon general would recommend, I'm sure. We also did hobo pies and s'mores. Good stuff.
The day Em and Kevin left it looked like it was going to storm. We headed to the beach on US 2 to see the sights.
Jenna has a hard time saying goodbye to Sissy.
We headed up to Sault Saint Marie the next day and checked out the boats on the locks. And it was FREEZING that day.
Every day we swam by the bridge. The water was beautiful!
I will miss you, UP.
I thought it would be really fun to alter a tin for a girl to use as a purse, a holder of treasures, or even as a package to enclose a gift card. I used the Material Girl line from GCD.
Here is the front of the tin: I used a GCD chipboard label and fussy-cut one of the papers with the purses on it, as well as the words. I also used a border and the photo corners from the Fun House line.
